Elizabeth Louise Middleton Obert
31 May, 1925 - 1 April, 2010
Passed away Thursday, April 1st, 2010, in the presence of her immediate family. Elizabeth was born in the small town of Weggis, Switzerland, on May 31st, 1925 and became a permanent resident of the United States of America on July 18th, 1951. She began working at the Eckrich Company in Kalamazoo in April 1952, where she met William F. Middleton. They were married on November 12th, 1954. An avid and skillful tennis player, she won tournaments both in Switzerland and the United States. She had a deep, passionate love of flowers and gardening; she worked as a transplanter at her daughter and son-in-laws greenhouse business up to the age of 78. She is survived by her husband William; daughter Lydia son-in-law John; daughter Debbie son-in-law Dan, two grand-daughters Amanda and Ashley; son Fred daughter-in-law Alicia; brother Henri in Switzerland and sister Lydia in England. She has many nieces and nephews both here in America and in Europe who will miss her dearly. Her wishes were to not have any formal ceremony but rather to have her family bring her ashes back to her beloved Switzerland. There, Elizabeth's American family will unite her with her Swiss family. Elizabeth will rejoin her mother Elise and brother Fredy who preceded her. A photo montage will be available for viewing on Langelands' web site in the near future.
