Portage, MI Died Monday morning May 4, 2009. Betty was born January 30, 1928 in Gladstone, Michigan a daughter of Julius and Anna Olson Bredahl. She was a graduate of Gladstone High School, Northern Michigan University, and Michigan State University. She taught kindergarten for 36 years in Lansing, MI, East Brunswick, NJ, and Haverhill Elementary, retiring in 1988. Betty was confirmed a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in 1967. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Marie Olson and Barbara Bredahl. Betty is survived by her dear friend and companion of 31 years, Eugene "Gene" Leiby of Portage; a sister, Marilyn Gearing of Grand Blanc, MI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held 1 o'clock Friday in South Portage Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice.
