Elizabeth Jane Harrow Burtch, age 93, passed on to a better life on March 9, 2008, in Kalamazoo, MI. She died of congestive heart failure after a brief illness. She was born on December 14, 1914, to C.E. and Myrtle Harrow and grew up on the family farm in Pinconning. Her early education was in the one-room school house on the corner of her father's farm. While attending high she lived during the week in Standish. After her marriage to Melvin Burtch in 1933, she left the rigors of the farm and made her home in Dearborn, MI, where they raised two daughters. Upon her husband's retirement in 1968, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, returning summers to the lush green of Michigan. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Jane Colber of Kalamazoo, MI and Evangeline Burtch-Farrell of Newport Beach, CA. Her grandchildren are Douglas Colber and Kristin Colber-Baker, both of Chicago. Great grandchildren include Evelyn Colber, Garrett Colber, Quinn Baker, and Aaron Baker. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was loved and cherished by many friends and family. Private graveside services were held in Standish Cemetery.
