Elizabeth “Betty” Eleanor Terry, 95 of Portage, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1928, in Flowerfield, Michigan, to Russell and Sarah (Bradford) Wiley.
On June 15, 1946, Betty married the love of her life, Donald Terry, in Schoolcraft. They were blessed with over 60 years together until Don’s passing in 2007.
Betty was a devoted Detroit Tigers fan. She also made novelty pins with holiday and seasonal themes that she would give to anyone she ran into, including servers at restaurants, store clerks, and healthcare staff. She was able to show off her unique talent for the holidays and she especially loved her patriotic pins.
Betty is survived by her children, Dorothy (Bill) Moyer of Mendon, Beverly (Terry) Kay of Schoolcraft, and Donald II (Dawn) Terry of Comstock; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her beloved Jack Russell and Beagle mix, Bubba. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; sons, Edwin and Douglas Terry; granddaughter, Misty Waldon; sister, Virginia Caswell; and her parents.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 411 East Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49002. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, January 31, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, beginning at 1:00 pm; interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South at 2:00 pm. After the graveside service, there will be a reception at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3531, 11611 Shaver Rd., Schoolcraft, MI 49087. Memorial contributions in honor of Betty may be directed to a charity of donor’s choice.
