Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008. She was born September 17, 1912 in Oude Pekela, Netherlands the daughter of Jurien and Johanna Wolters Melchior and lived in the Kalamazoo area since 1955. Elisabeth was employed by the Independent Elevator Company for 15 years and was a member of North Park Reformed Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julius Ausema in 1965; and her brothers and sister, Johannes Melchior, Hendrik Melchior, Jurien Melchior and Johanna Velting. Elisabeth is survived by her children, Joan Lynwood Topp of Paw Paw and Gary Nancy Ausema of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Matthew Amy Topp, Joseph Topp, Natalie Steven Ritzema, Janelle Ausema and David Ausema; and three great grandchildren, Taylor, Eden and Wayne. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Monday in the North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Rd., corner of Douglas Ave., with Pastor Paul Fazio officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, on Sunday from 2-5 PM.
