GROFVERT, Eleanor A. Kalamazoo Wife, mom and loving spirit who never stopped giving, Eleanor died Saturday, November 18, 2006 with her children at her side. Eleanor was born November 9, 1925 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Warde French and Helen Moerdyke. For forty years she worked with her husband Paul as owners and operators of the Top-O-Hill Poultry Farm. She was a member of the Twin Lakes Reformed Church where she served in many capacities, including children?s day camp, Ladies Guild and Circle, and the maker of flower arrangements that graced the sanctuary each week. She was recognized in Michigan as a master cook and baker, winning more than 1,000 blue ribbons at county and state fairs. In 1970 she was recognized as Homemaker of the Year at the Michigan State Fair by Helen Milliken. Her love of gardening, cooking, canning and flower arranging turned God?s bounty into gifts that she shared with family, friends, and those in need. On September 11, 1948, she married Paul Grofvert whose passing nine years ago left us mourning and celebrating an equally wonderful life. She is survived by three children, Allen Grofvert & Edith Robinson of Holt, Anne Grofvert and her husband Dennis Pace of Dimondale, and David Grofvert and his wife Debra of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Jennifer and John; sister Patricia & Harry Moyle, and brother Norman and Betty French; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Twin Lakes Reformed Church, 5475 Ravine Road, with the Rev. Don DeYoung officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Alamo Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Langland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, on Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. Friends wishing to express their sympathy may make contributions to the Alzheimer?s Association or Twin Lakes Reformed Church.
