WALDRON, Edwin "Ed"
Of Kalamazoo Edwin Elnathan Waldron passed away Friday, April 10, 2009, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born February 6, 1933, in Van Buren County, Michigan, the son of William Hugh and Grace Cooley Waldron and was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. From 1952-54, he served active duty in the U.S. Army Military Police and then served in the Army Reserves. For several years following the service he was employed with the Vicksburg Commercial and later was employed for over 28 years as an auto mechanic with The Upjohn Company Farm, retiring as head mechanic supervisor. Ed enjoyed restoring antique autos and was a member of the Kalamazoo Antique Auto Restorers Club and more recently enjoyed restoring antique toys. He was a member of the Schoolcraft American Legion and had been a volunteer with the Vicksburg Fire Department and the Upjohn Fire Department. On March 31, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Dian Fitzgerald who survives. Also surviving are his three children, Steven Kathleen Waldron of Schoolcraft, Patricia Walter Ruszkowski of Schoolcraft and Debra Corley of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Samuel and Jack Waldron, Michael Ruszkowski and Avery Corley; two sisters, Mozelle Wright of Mendon and Helen Hurley of Mishawaka, IN; former wife, Marcia Waldron; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where a service to celebrate Ed's life will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday with Pastor Mark Vanderson officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held in Marcellus Bly Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials in Ed's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
