Kalamazoo, MI Died Saturday evening October 27, 2012. Edwin was born July 18, 1922 in Cicero, Illinois a son of Isadore "Ed" and Agnes Cermak Gabalec. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 2010, coming from Des Plaines, IL. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents. On September 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Edith P. Wolfgram Gabalec who survives. Also surviving, 3 daughters, Joy Gabalec of Wheeling, IL, Lynn Gabalec of Vernon Hills, IL, and Ann Michael Bensinger of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, M. Brian Bensinger and Mark Bensinger; a brother, Robert Jeanne Gabalec of Naperville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday at the Friendship Village, KIVA Room, 1400 N. Drake Rd. Visitation will be 10-11 in the KIVA Room. Private graveside services will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
