CHAPMAN, Edward C.
Of Kalamazoo Passed away Tuesday morning, November 30, 2010 at the Kairos Dwelling. Ed was born August 19, 1918 in Kalamazoo the son of Carl and Nellie Stulting Chapman. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Prior to his retirement Ed was employed with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company for over 41 years and was a member of the Sunnyside United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed gardening, and spending time with his family. On August 31, 1940 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Harriet Kelly who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Edward Debbie Chapman, Margaret Taylor, Keith Chapman; 2 grandchildren, Jared Allison Taylor, Meghan Hand of Atlanta; 3 great-grandchildren, Reilly, Sydney, and Lincoln; sisters, Frances Mishler, Helen Bill Byler, Shirley Salvaggio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother. Private family interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at 2:00 o'clock Saturday at the Sunnyside United Methodist Church, 2800 Gull Rd with Rev. Matt Weiler officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Michigan, Kairos Dwelling or the Sunnyside United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
