ANNEN, Mr. Edward J., Sr.
Kalamazoo Ed Annen, Sr. passed away unexpectedly at his home early Friday morning, July 13, 2007. Ed was born February 2, 1923, in Milwaukee. WI, a son of James E. and Josephine Weiland Annen, Sr. and had lived in Kalamazoo since 1935. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and attended City College of New York. During World War II, Ed served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. The majority of his adult life was spent as a car salesman with Don Seelye Ford. Ed was a avid participant in the Milwood Neighborhood Watch and attended Greenwood Reformed Church on a regular basis. On October 18, 1947, he was united in marriage with the former Cornelia VanKlaveren who preceded him in death on April 24, 1985. Ed was also preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters, Gladys Imig, May Terpening, and Evelyn Weidemann; a brother, James E. Annen, Jr. and a brother-in-law, Peter VanKlaveren. Surviving are: a daughter June Shockley and her husband, Rick Shockley, DDS of Portage; a son, Ed Annen, Jr. and his wife, Jacque Annen, of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren, Rick Shockley, Jr., Ryan Shockley and his wife, Paige Shockley, Jason Shockley and his fiancée, Evangeline Collum, Ed Annen, III and his fiancée, Holly Patzer, Stephanie Formsma and her husband, Ryan Formsma, and Kelli DeHaan; two great-grandchildren, Davis Formsma and Kinsey Shockley; a sister, Lillian Griffieon; a brother, Clare Annen and his wife, Betty Annen; a sister-in-law, Ann Fortuin; and many nieces and nephews. Ed also had numerous friends and acquaintances. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 4pm and on Monday from 2 to 4pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Funeral services will be held 7:00 Monday evening at Greenwood Reformed Church, 1815 Winton Ave., with the Rev. Jon Loper, officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall following the funeral service. Private interment in Mount Ever Rest Cemetery will be held later.
