Edna Slager

SLAGER, Mrs. Edna
Of Portage, Michigan Went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday evening, January 14, 2009. Edna was born July 21, 1928, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Edward and Anna Everts Stuurwold. She was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and member of the Grace Christian Reformed Church. Edna was a member of the Dorcas Society and had been a volunteer in the Park Village Pines gift shop. In 1951 she was united in marriage to Wilbur Slager who preceded her in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Stuurwold and brother, John Stuurwold. Surviving are her children, Jim Tina Slager of Galesburg, Judy Scott Medendorp of Portage, Mary Don Wiersma of Portage and Kathy Jim Peck of Augusta; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl VanderLugt; sister-in-laws, Ann Stuurwold, Ruth Wolthuis and Dorothy Slager and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday today from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. where funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday with Rev. Dr. Harry Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in Portage Central Cemetery.
