BURCHARD, Mrs. Edith M.
Portage, Michigan Died Thursday afternoon August 5, 2010. Edith was born December 6, 1927 in Westpoint, Arkansas the daughter of William and Thelma Todd Jones. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1956 and was employed with the Portage Public Schools for 18 years before retiring. Edith was also a member of the Flowerfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Tammy Burchard; a sister, Joyce; and a brother, Johnny. On July 21, 1956, she was united in marriage to Loyal F. Burchard who survives. Also surviving, 5 children, Larry Sherry Laxton of Manton, MI, Lois Mark Reynolds of Plymouth, IN, Valerie Dave Ward of Portage, Cherie James Lentz of Vicksburg, and Jim Burchard of Portage; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Jessie Moodey of Mackenzie, TN; a sister-in-law, Jeannie Jones of Marcellus, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 11 o'clock Monday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday. Interment will be in Mt.
