Kalamazoo, MI Died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Edith was born November 9, 1919 in Richmond, Virginia, a daughter of Samuel and Bessie Perkins Franklin. During WWII, she served with the U.S. Marines. Edith had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1954, coming from Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers, Thomas and Eugene. On January 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Norman "Mike" F. Blakley who survives. Also surviving are 2 children, Jamie Blakley of Kalamazoo and William Yoshiko Blakley of Ft. Worth, TX; 2 grandsons, Michael and Charles; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, April 27 in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors those attending please meet at the cemetery cortège assembly area by front entrance. There will be no visitation.
