Edde R. Crippen, age 70 of Vicksburg, passed away on August 6, 2023. He was born February 16, 1953, in Kalamazoo, the son of Russell and Arlene (Smith) Crippen. Edde was a graduate of Mattawan High School and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. He retired as a welder and robot programmer from Stryker. Edde was an avid bowler and was on leagues at Continental Lanes. He used to attend horse shows. On April 11, 1981, he married Dawn Compton. Over the years, Edde and Dawn provided a loving home to many foster children, including a special foster son, Elijah Lockett. Along with his wife Dawn Crippen, his family includes his children: Shon Crippen, Catina (Mitchell) Painter, Krystle (Jeff) Black, Cody Crippen, Tiffany Crippen, Lynette (Mike) Pryor, and Todd Crosthwait; his ten grandchildren and one soon to be great-granddaughter; his sisters: Louise Crippen and Terri (Kenneth) Garrett; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Matthew Chabitch. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 14th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 411 East Centre Avenue, Portage. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South.
