HODGES, Earl L., Sr.
Of Portage Passed away April 28, 2010 at his residence. Earl was born July 28, 1934 in Antwerp Township, Kalamazoo County, MI, a son of Homer and Gertrude DeHaan Hodges Brand and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area. Prior to his retirement, Earl was employed for 40 plus years as a Millwright/Rollgrinder at Allied Paper Company. He was a member of the Schoolcraft/Portage Eagles Lodge and the Portage Moose Lodge. Earl loved to bowl and work in his garden. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Hodges on April 30, 2009 and by a daughter Cindy Crampton, 3 brothers, Clyde, Bob and Carl Hodges and a sister Lena Farrow. Surviving are 3 sons and 1 daughter, Ralph Linda Bloomfield of Kalamazoo, Kenneth Linda Hodges of Kalamazoo, Earl Debbie Hodges, Jr. of Schoolcraft and Chris Rick Geer of Galesburg; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother Jim Hodges of Portage and a sister Pearl Tomlinson of Florida; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to a grandson Jamie Hodges for the care he gave to grandma and grandpa. In accordance with Earl's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or services.
