E. Winifred 'Winnie' Lee

LEE, Mrs. E. Winifred "Winnie"
of Kalamazoo, MI E. Winifred "Winnie" Lee, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home early Tuesday morning, October 23, 2012. She was born on Saturday, November 1, 1919, in Huntington County, IN, a daughter of William Elsworth and Mary Rebecca Beaver Fulton. After graduating from high school, Winnie attended Maher's Business School and worked for the Shakespeare Company in the accounting department. In the late 1930's she met Carl Lee and on October 12, 1940, they were united in marriage. Winnie was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was once active in the John Dunning Guild. She also was involved with the Women's Symphony Association. Winnie and Carl are Honorary Alumni of Western Michigan University and the benefactors of the Carl E and Winifred Lee Honors College of Western Michigan University. Winnie and Carl enjoyed travelling while working on Carl's businesses and they enjoyed spending their winters in Naples, FL and summers in Kalamazoo. They were members of the Kalamazoo Country Club, the Park Club and the Bear's Paw Country Club of Naples. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Edith Viola Wise. Winnie is survived by: her husband of 72 years, Carl E Lee; a daughter Cheri Jeff Weedman of Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren, Carl Lee Weedman of Albion, MI and Tatiana Eloise Weedman of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Eugene "Jack" Fulton of Florida; a sister-in-law, Doris Lee of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 10:00 Friday morning at First Presbyterian Church, 321 W. South Street with Rev. Dr. Seth Weeldreyer and Rev. Dr. David McShane officiating. Private interment services will be held in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. Winnie's family will briefly meet with friends at the church following the service. Memorials should be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center or First Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements were made by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street.
