Formerly of Wyoming Dwight passed away Sunday evening, March 22, 2009 at Alterra Wynwood of Portage. He was born August 23, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Max and Gladys Theis Ketteman. Dwight was employed by Grand Rapids Public Schools until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan, and loved watching his grandchildren's sporting events. His family, especially his grandchildren, were very special to him, and a very important part of his life. He was married to the former Billie Stressman for over 30 years until her passing in 1996. Also preceding him in death are his father, Max Ketteman; and his mother and step-father, Gladys and William Sr. Eberlin. Surviving are 3 children, Marcia Bob Patrick of California, Kim Hemmes of Colorado, and Bob Nancy Ketteman of Portage; 1 daughter-in-law, Sue Hemmes of Wyoming, MI; 8 grandchildren, Bryan Patrick, Kris, Kelly, and Kyle Hemmes, and Drew, Katie, Christine, and Michael Ketteman; and 1 step-brother, William Eberlin Jr. of Detroit. The family would like to express a special thank-you to all the staff and administration of Alterra for all their kindness and support during his stay. Funeral services for Mr. Ketteman will be at 4:00 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Private entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Grand Rapids. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
