Passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the age of 65. Duane was born in Kalamazoo on October 11, 1950, the son of the late Billy and Poneta (Brown) Blankenship. He retired from the City of Kalamazoo Parks Department. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by a daughter and a son, Dana (Brian) Henige and Ryan Blankenship; grandson, Mason Blankenship; sister, Karen (David) Balch; niece, Stephanie Hetz; great nephews, John and Brantley; aunts, Sandy (Dan) Fleming and Shirley Salisbury; and many cousins; fiancé, Eileen Yeager and her children, Jenny Yeager and Larry Saxman, and grandson Danny Torrey. He is also survived by long time friends, Glenn and Lori Putman and numerous other friends. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 17th, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 18th, at the funeral chapel. Pastor Greg Carlson will officiate with interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Borgess Foundation - General Cardiology Fund.
