STOUT, Dr. John T. PhD Of Mattawan Passed away Saturday evening, May 19, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born December 9, 1938 in Cedar Falls, Iowa the son of John M. and Margaret Harris Stout. He earned his B.S. and PhD. from the University of Minnesota. He was passionate about his work as a molecular biologist in which he spent 37 years, and was employed by Upjohn, Pharmacia/Asgrow Seed Company, and most recently Western Michigan University. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Kenneth, Glenn, and Eugene. Along with work, John enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, art, photography, and computers. On June 20, 1964 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 42 years, the former Joyce Nielsen who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Andrea Phil Everson Stout of Philadelphia, PA, Erika Dave Stout-Kirck of Harper Woods, MI; 4 grandchildren, Isabella, Michaela, Gabriel, Christina; a brother, Quentin Joanne Stout; sisters-in-law, June Stout, Jean Stout, Suzanne Richard Rodell and brother-in-law, Mark Mary Jo Nielsen; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly remembered by his special friends and colleagues at the Biological Imaging Center at Western Michigan University. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 11:00 o?clock Friday, June 1 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 W. Milham, Portage, with Pastor Paul Nuechterlein officiating. Private family interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the University of Minnesota Foundation-College of Biological Sciences, McNamara Alumni Center, 200 Oak St., Minneapolis, MN 55455, the Kalamazoo Institute of Art, or the charity of your choice.
