Dr. John A Back

BACH, Dr. John A. Kalamazoo, MI Passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, May 26, 2007. Born July 26, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to Dr. Walter F. and Thusnelda Binhammer Bach, both deceased. John was also preceded by a brother, Walter Bach. Following his lifelong love of science, he attended the University of Michigan and Michigan State University to earn a Master?s and Ph.D. in microbiology. He retired from the Upjohn Company in 1988. On June 22, 1957, he married Virginia Jeanne Swendsen, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Cheryl John Hedden of Sitka, Alaska; Julie Scott Brownlee of St. Paul, MN; Susan Wes Kolb of Richland, MI; four grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Noah, and Clare; sister Margaret Bach Dmytro of Kalamazoo, MI; brothers Robert Phyllis Bach of Traverse City, MI, and Carl Sally Bach of Goodrich, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Foundation Fighting Blindness or the charity of your choice.
