HERMAN, Dr. Jenny Rea "Jerry"
Of Kalamazoo Dr. "Jerry" Herman was born on November 25, 1929 a daughter of Rev. Richard and Bonnie Brubaker in a small Louisiana town named Pearl River. She was the second of six daughters, Nina Merle, Jenny Rea Ira, Hannah Jane, Blanche Marie, Bonnie Ruth and Ritchie Gale. Because of hard times, her parents moved to Livingston, LA to be near her mother's parents and their farm. They later moved to Baton Rouge, LA. Jerry went through grade school at Bernard Terrace and graduated from Baton Rough High School in 1946. She attended Kingswood College in Tennessee and graduated from Junior College in Kernersville, NC in 1948 and later attended Marion College in Indiana. She moved to Indianapolis, IN where she was employed by Eli Lilly. While there she was introduced to her future husband Harry Herman. Jerry was baptized in Jesus Name in May 1949 and received the Holy Ghost on January 29, 1950. Christ Temple in Indianapolis became her church home and on October 9, 1949, she married Harry. Dr Jerry was very active in the Northern District Council and will be remembered for the many positions she held. Dr. Herman was honored to hold the highest office a female non-licensed minister can attain in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., where she was affectionately known as "Dr. Jerry" She earned her Master and Doctorate Degrees in Christian Education from the International Apostolic College in 1994 and in 2004 was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree by Aenon Bible College. She earned her Minister's License and was Ordained in June 2004 by the PAW. Dr. Jerry is the author of three books, "Pleasure Pieces of God", "Skraps of Inspiration" and "Even So Must Their Wives". Dr. Jenny "Jerry" Herman passed away January 21, 2010 at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 27 days. Those left to morn her passing are: her devoted husband, Bishop Harry L. Herman; 4 sons, John Richard Irene, Harry Phillip Linda, Robert Leander and Michael Scott Amber; 6 grandchildren, Dan, Jeff, John Jr., Jill, Michael Scott, Jr. and Shane; 1 great-grandchild Braden; 5 sisters, Nina Whittlesy Wellington, Hannah Hill Fred Blanch Johnson CB, Bonnie David Thomas Haroldand Richie Beagles Vernon and many nieces and nephews; The Christ Temple Church Family, The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Family; The Northern District Council Family and many saints and friends. One son, David Karl preceded her in death. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 6:30 - 9 pm at the Christ Temple Church, 3498 N. 26th St., Kalamazoo. There will also be a visitation on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 10 - 11 am at the Greater Bible Way Church, 322 Madison St. in Jackson, MI where services will be held at 11:00 am with Bishop Paul A.
