SWOODWORTH, Dorothy Louise "Granny" Of Schoolcraft, Michigan Dorothy passed away at Bickford Cottage on Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was born November 19, 1908, in Galesburg, Michigan to Harry and Carrie Draper Crittenden. She attended Kalamazoo Public Schools in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husband, Thomas B. Woodworth; parents; and three brothers and their wives, Donald Adeline, Harry Neva, and Jack Evelyn Crittenden. Dorothy and Thomas had seven children: Sue
McGoff of Schoolcraft, Michigan, Marilyn Jesse Mann Moise of Texas Corners, Michigan, Thomas B. Nancy Upjohn Woodworth of Sanibel, Florida, Mary Donald Milner of Lewiston, Michigan, Sandra Metzler of Orange, California, Nancy Richard Tyler of Portage, Michigan, and Connie Jay Fonnesbeck of Kemmerer, Wyoming. Dorothy loved to be called "Granny" by all her twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren and many friends and neighbors. Her years were spent teaching her girls how to cook, bake, sew, knit, crochet, make crafts, garden, and clean a home properly. She spent much of her time supporting her children at athletic contests. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family and watching the songbirds and hummingbirds at her home in Schoolcraft. She was a member of the Schoolcraft United Methodist Church, the Schoolcraft Ladies Library, and the Schoolcraft Historical Society. She was very appreciative of the excellent care given at Bickford Cottage. Funeral service will be held 2:00 Wednesday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St., with Rev. Karen Wheat of Schoolcraft United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment in Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery will follow services. Friends and family will gather for visitation prior to the service on Wednesday from 12-2pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions should be directed to the Schoolcraft United Methodist Church or to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
