KLIMP, DOROTHY L.
of Portage, Michigan Dorothy Lorraine Klimp, age 81, passed away peacefully May 13, 2013 at her residence after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Dorothy was born July 2, 1931, in Kalamazoo, the daughter Harm and Betty VanderLay Yonkers. She was a graduate of Portage High School and a lifelong Portage area resident. The most important part of Dorothy's life was raising her family and being involved in the activities of her children and grandchildren. On July 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Klimp, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Marsha Smith of Mattawan, Cynthia Klimp of Portage, and Kathy Drenth of Portage; six grandchildren, Jennifer Dave Hilger, Christy Adam Greenman, Johnathan Mullins, Andrew Drenth, Katie Drenth and Emily Drenth; five great-grandchildren, Ben, Alex and Carleigh Hilger, Brooke and Tyler Greenman; her sister, Beverly Jay Tillema of Portage. In accordance with Dorothy's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Portage Central Cemetery.
