DUDGEON, Dorothy
Portage, MI Dorothy Louise Dudgeon died Thursday, March 5, 2009 in her Portage home. Dorothy was born on August 16, 1931, an only child to Genevieve Churchill Napier and L. Forrest Churchill. She graduated from Niles High School in 1949, and then enrolled in Bronson Methodist Hospital's nursing program, earning her RN in 1952. Her career in nursing was spent at Bronson Methodist Hospital, at one point serving as head RN for the emergency room and eventually retiring from the office of Gastroenterology & Hepetology of Kalamazoo. Dorothy was devoted to her family and enjoyed trips to northern Michigan, reading and was a member of Moose Lodge #88. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Floyd Napier. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Dudgeon; sons, Scott Mona Waddell and Fred Dina Waddell; grandchildren, Amy Eric Kohler, Amy Todd Assante, Dru Jessica Williams, Joshua Waddell and Janessa Waddell; great granddaughter, Taylor Williams; cousin, Jan Bruce Shadler and family. There will be no service, but memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, in gratitude for their excellent care.
