BRANT, Dorothy R.
of Portage, MI Dorothy died Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011, in Kalamazoo. She was born March 20, 1926, in Kalamazoo, MI, a daughter of John and Grace Pollycutt Poolman and had been a lifelong area resident. Dorothy was a member of Westwood Church of God and had retired from Bronson Hospital. She was a previous member of Eastwood Church of God where she served as choir director and was a member of the Eastwood Trio along with Lillian Druckenbrodt and Irene Stearns. Dorothy enjoyed travelling, especially her travels to Hawaii and Europe. She still had friends she met in kindergarten and they would meet regularly for fun. Dorothy's family was very close to her and her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren. A special memory for her grandchildren was Grammy taking them to Warner Camp every year. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Stewart and three brothers, Robert, Johnny Richard and Howard Poolman. Surviving are: her former husband, Harold Brant and their four children, Kenneth Jeannie Brant of Florida, Karen Joe Fee Brant, Joseph Sue Brant and Janice Ron Morris, all of Kalamazoo; a daughter-in-law, Pam Brant of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Angie Mark Polderman, Sarah Peter Johnson Ketchum, Jeff Sara Kingerey Brant and Brittany Hartman; four great-grandchildren, Ava, Henry, Violet and Ellie; a sister, Lillian Fred Druckenbrodt of Kalamazoo; a sister-in-law, Udema Poolman; several special nieces and nephews; and her recent caregiver, Barb Ashbey. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Services will be held 10:00 Saturday morning at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Ferguson and Pastor Tom Tufts, officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery will follow services. Memorials should be directed to Westwood Church of God.
