BIXLER, Dorothy M.
of Allegan, MI Passed away December 17, 2008, at home. She was born January 12, 1916 in Gobles, to the late Charles and Mary Webb Nichols. Dorothy retired from Kalamazoo College in 1981, where she had been employed since 1966. She and her husband were life members of the American Legion. She loved to play cards but especially loved visiting the Chicken Coop whenever she could. Surviving Dorothy are her daughters, Helen Joe Roglic of Kalamazoo, Shirley James Sinkler of Allegan, Barbara Larry Bixler of Kalamazoo, Patricia Richard Schero of Casa Grande, AZ, and Nancy Richard Waite of Bangor; 23 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 41 great great grandchildren; and several cousins. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Roscoe Bixler; a daughter, Ruth Holtz; grandchildren, Mark Holtz and Terry Weese; sister, Katherine Zick; and brother, Homer Nichols; sons-in-law, Perry Holtz, Kenneth Knapp, Sr., James Strecha, Jr., Robert Schero, Sr., and William Weese. Funeral services will take place Friday, 1:00PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. , where a visitation will also take place two hours prior to services, from 11-1:00pm. Rev. Jeanne Kucks will officiate services.
