Doris L. Piper

PIPER, Doris L. Gibson, age 92,
of Climax Passed away Friday morning, November 18, 2011 at her home. She was born March 20, 1919 in Battle Creek, the daughter of the late Ross and Cora Grossman Kellay. Doris was employed by Kellogg Co. for 15 years; was a member of Fulton Christian Church and a lifetime member of the Bedford Chapter #471, Order of the Eastern Star formerly Climax Maple Leaf Chapter #291. On February 12, 1938, she married Robert Gibson. She and Robert were married for 48 years until his passing on November 9, 1986. On July 14, 1995, she married Maynard Piper. She and Maynard were married for 16 years until his passing on June 1, 2011. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Carolyn Burke and one brother, Gordon Kellay. Surviving are her daughter Judy Larry Knowles of East Leroy; son-in-law, William Julie Burke; step-sons, Richard Sherlyn Piper of Reading and Russell Janet Piper of Spring Lake; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Kellay, Ross ?Buzz? Kellay and Rex Owens; one sister, Lori Kellay; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Doris will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street, with Pastor Noah Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Fulton Christian Church or American Cancer Society.
