SMITH, Doreen
Kalamazoo Mrs. Smith passed away Friday morning, December 26, 2008 at Park Place Assisted Living in Kalamazoo. She was born March 19, 1918 in Hastings, MI, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Geiger Sisson. Doreen was employed by the Otsego Co. Herald Times for 5 years, then Kalamazoo Public Schools for 9 years, and finally The Upjohn Co. for 20 years, until her retirement in 1983. She also received the W.E. Upjohn Award. Doreen was a longtime member of Oshtemo United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. Surviving are her 2 children, Ronald Ludmila Mosher of Atlanta, Georgia, and Patricia Robert Rewalt of Gobles; 4 grandchildren, Brian Nancy Mosher, Jody Steven Pyne, David Kathy Rewalt, and Jeffrey Teri Cairns; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and longtime close friend, Claire Fuller of Kalamazoo. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, H. Kern Mosher, Holdridge Whipple, and Robert Smith; 2 sisters, Norma Roberts, and Kathryn Rachor; and 3 brothers, Kenneth, Lyle, and Donald as an infant Sisson. Memorial services for Doreen will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Oshtemo United Methodist Church, 6574 Stadium Drive, with Pastor Suzanne Kornowski officiating. Private interment will be in Old Bly Cemetery, Marcellus. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Oshtemo United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
