It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful and loving mother, Dora Kimberly, at the age of 79 years old. She was born Dora Elizabeth Logee on Feb. 12, 1946 in Allegan, Michigan to Charles and Mary (Rossetti) Logee. As an adolescent her family moved to Jonesville, Michigan. She graduated from Jonesville High School in 1964. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology from Eastern Michigan University. She started her career at Coldwater State Hospital working with the physically and developmentally disabled. During this period, she married the late Daryl Kimberly on Jan. 13, 1971, and started a family. They moved to Kalamazoo and raised four children. Dora had a deep devotion to her Catholic Faith. Dora’s Family was everything to her, but she also led a varied teaching career where she devoted her wisdom and talent with a no-nonsense yet caring approach. She also worked at MRC Industries, Adult Alternative Education at Phoenix High School and KPEP as a GED teacher and spent many years teaching at Edison Elementary at the end of her career. Her compassion knew no bounds and was displayed throughout her life, giving back to the community through the Church or volunteering.
Dora had a smile and a laugh that could light up a room. She always had a vigor for life and a love of travel, good food, and dancing. The Italian in her came out and often in the kitchen – cooking and dancing. She was an excellent cook and could make anything taste delicious. She also loved gardening. She is survived by her son Philip and daughter-in-law Brenda, grandsons Nickolis and Nathan, her daughters Christina Erickson, Carolynn Kimberly and Colleen Kimberly, her sister Rita Hadley, nephew Steve Rockwood and his wife Lynn and their son Joey. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary (Rossetti) Logee, brother-in-Law Rick Hadley, husband Daryl Kimberly, and beloved dogs Buckwheat, Lady, and Potsie.
