Dora J. Gressley went to be with her Lord Saturday evening, June 30, 2007, with her family by her side. Dora was born October 25, 1924, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of Ralph E. and Mary A. Douglas Bumgardner and had lived in Kalamazoo and Portage since 1943. She was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church, Olympic Chapter #247 O.E.S. and the Daughters of the Nile. In 1988, Dora retired from The Upjohn Company where she had worked for 30 years. In 1976, Dora was united in marriage with Paul H. Gressley, who preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a step-son, George A. Gressley and a grandson, Todd A. Potratz. Dora is survived by: 4 children, Ralph H. & Janet Frederick of Three Rivers, Paula J. & John Johnson of Portage, Becky L. & Roger Wagner of The Villages, FL and Gerald L. Frederick of Galesburg; 5 step-children, Jacilin L. & Paul Ehinger of Ft. Wayne, IN, Beverley L. & Robert Barton of Hartford, IN, Shirley R. & Roger Rickert of Tucson, AZ, Charlotte J. & Dwight Elzey of Huntington, IN, and Virginia K. & Robert Vanderweg of Tekonsha; a step-daughter-in-law, Lois Gressley of Huntington, IN; 7 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Virginia M. Corbin of Bradenton, FL and Sharon Dickey and Shirley Bumgardner of Portage; 4 brothers, Ralph E. & Rose Bumgardner of Three Rivers, MI, Harold ?Bud? & Norma Bumgardner of Schoolcraft, Duane E. Bumgardner of Stuart, FL and Glenn & Donna Bumgardner of Portage; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Private interment will be held in Schoolcraft Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 11:30 Thursday morning at Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Rd, with The Rev. Dr. Wayne Price and The Rev. Dr. Eric S. Beck, officiating. Memorials should be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence or to Westwood United Methodist Church.
