Donald "D-Jay" York II

Donald James “D-Jay” York II passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the age of 51 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on June 20, 1971, to Donald James and Sharon Joyce (Kelley) York. He served his country in the United States Army from 1991 to 1997. Don worked as a finishing operator for Kalsec and was the Local USW 416 Union President. He loved his job and the people he worked with. Don had a passion for cars, especially his 2010 Chevy Camaro, was a huge U of M fan, but most important to him, was his family. Don married Christina Lapham on October 30, 1993, in Kalamazoo.

Surviving are his loving wife, Christina York; 2 children, Caleb (Mahadiah) York and Hailey York; father, Donald York; brother, Michael York; and 2 nieces, Jamie and Ariyah. Preceding him in death was his mother, Sharon Kelley.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 622 S. Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49007 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Christine Murphy Lee for her care and compassion throughout Don’s cancer journey.
