VAN WEELDEN, Donald L.
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went home to be with his Lord on Friday, January 22, 2010. Don was born November 17, 1920, in Kalamazoo, the son of Cornelius and Lean Van Gemert VanWeelden and has been a lifelong area resident. On January 6, 1943, he was united in marriage to the former Flora Rhem. Throughout the years, he loved working on his farm and for many years he owned and operated Van Instrument until his retirement in 2004. Don was very active in church work, serving in many capacities. He was a member of the former Third Reformed Church and had served as a board member for Gun Lake Chapel for 17 years. Preceding Don in death were his parents; his son, Dale VanWeelden and by a brother, Burt VanWeelden. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Flora VanWeelden; his son, James Ann VanWeelden of Kalamazoo; his daughter, Sue Richard Moss of Kalamazoo; a daughter-in-law, Shelly Russell; a granddaughter, Jessica DeHaan; three step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25 from 12-1 PM at Centerpoint Church Third Reformed Church, 2345 North 10th St. where a funeral service will be held beginning at 1:00 PM Monday with Rev. Dar VanderWal officiating. A private burial will take place in West Cooper Cemetery.
