TERRY, Donald, Sr. Portage Don passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 26, 2007 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1927 in Kalamazoo, one of three children to Douglas and Jessie Homan Terry. Don was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He was employed by James River Paper Co. for 48 years until his retirement in 1989. Don was an over 52 year life member of the Hickory Corners American Legion Post # 484 and a member of the Portage/Schoolcraft Eagles Aerie #3531 for the past few years. On June 15, 1946, Don was united in marriage to Elizabeth ?Betty? Wiley in Schoolcraft, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Dorothy Bill Moyer of Mendon, Douglas Terry of Bradenton, FL, Beverly Terry Kays of Bradenton, FL, and Donald II Dawn Terry of Comstock; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; one son, Edwin Terry; one granddaughter, Misty Waldon; one sister, Hilda Martin; and one brother, Delmar Terry. Funeral services for Don will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Thursday tomorrow at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one?s choice.
