REED, Donald W., Jr.
of Portage Went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2011. Born the only son of Donald Ward and Elsie Abrams Reed on September 9, 1933 in Centerville, MI. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Marla George of Marcellus, Connie Bill of Florida, Don Kelly of Portage and Paul of Kalamazoo and his seven grandchildren, PJ, Courtney, Taylor, AJ, Emily, Victoria and Sarah. Donald is an alumnus of the Class of '52 Michigan School for the Deaf. Although he earned letters in basketball, football and track; his favorite was track where he excelled in the 880 Relay. Donald worked at Gibson Guitars until they moved the plant to Tennessee, at which time he went to work for J & J Glass and remained there until his retirement. He was an avid reader, and had a passion for woodworking and traveling. Visitation will be on Sunday September 25 from 2-5 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the First Assembly of God Church, 5550 Oakland Dr. where Donald was a member for many years. Pastor David Barringer will officiate. Visitation at the church will begin at 10 am Monday. Private family interment will follow at White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
