Kalamazoo Donald R. Pylar, of Kalamazoo, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012. He was born in Detroit on March 24, 1933, the son of Rose and Stanley Pilarowski now Pylar. Loving husband of Dolores Pylar; beloved father of Donna, Darlene Kim Kellermann, Daniel and Doreen Pylar; dear grandfather of Deanna & Matthew Baldwin, Deidre, Daniel and Dennis Pylar; step-grandfather of Meagan Kellermann; step-great grandfather of Aiden; dear brother of Mary Ciupka & Walter; also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Stanley, Robert and George; and his parents, Rose and Stanley Pilarowski. Donald was born and raised in Detroit, MI, graduated from St. Stanislaus High School and Walsh School of Accounting. He was a successful businessman and entrepreneur, starting at age 10, with his paper stand on Chene St., up to the present as the owner of Kalamazoo Supply Co. and Lansing Wholesale Co. Donald proudly served our country in Korea as a sergeant in the United States Army. He was a past president of the Lutomski PRCU Post, #1552, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Donald enjoyed his work, spending time with his family, trips to Las Vegas as well as the local casinos. Donald will be missed by all who knew him and by his family and friends. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 23830 Front St., Mattawan, with Rev. Fr. Mathew Illikattil, Celebrant. Burial will take place on Thursday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
