PRIEST, Donald R., Sr.
Kalamazoo Mr. Priest passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2007 at his home. He was born April 4, 1924 in Allegan, the third of six children to Richard and Beulah Armstrong Priest. Don was a veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving 7 years during World War II. He held many jobs over the years, finally deciding to become a police officer. Don graduated from the police academy, class of 1952 and proudly wore badge #50 for the Kalamazoo Police Department for 25 years. Many of those years were spent working radar. On September 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Virginia Bradac, who survives, and they were blessed with 59 wonderful years together. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Susan David Steeby of Hastings; 3 grandchildren, Rebecca John Eros, Daniel Steeby, and Vivian Priest; 2 great-grandchildren, Magdalena and Autumn; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; 1 son, Donald Priest Jr. who died 20 years prior to the day on November 20, 1987; 1 daughter-in-law, Caroline Priest; and 5 brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Mr. Priest will be at 2:00 PM on Friday tomorrow at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 1-2 PM on Friday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association.
