NEDERHOED, Donald A. "Don"
of Portage Passed away Tuesday morning, September 27, 2011. Don was born January 19, 1929, in Kalamazoo the son of the late Harry and Martha Munting Nederhoed and had been a lifelong resident in the Portage and Kalamazoo area. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in China. Don spent his working years as a salesman with various different companies and served on the Kalamazoo County Commission from 1973-1980. He was a member of the Greenwood Reformed Church and the Portage Lions Club. On January 29, 1949 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Thelma Kraai, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Kathy Sullivan and Jeri Nederhoed; 2 grandchildren, Whitney Sullivan, Ben Lesley Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Izabelle, and Blake; a sister, Ruth Gene Kloosterman; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 o'clock Monday, at the Greenwood Reformed Church, 1815 Winton Ave, with Pastor Jon Loper officiating. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-5pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. Private interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Greenwood Reformed Church.
