MOTSINGER, Mr. Donald B.
Kalamazoo, MI A man admired for his huge heart, his generous spirit and deep love for family, Donald Motsinger had an incredibly infectious smile and quick wit. He was an adoring husband, a devoted father and the grandest of grandfathers. He passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 26, 2012. Donald went peacefully heavenward at home, surrounded by his loved ones, including the wife he treasured for 70 years, Florence Maxine Wilson Motsinger. Always at home on the water, Donald especially loved house boating - and loved every moment he spent with Maxine at their winter home in Bradenton, Florida. After 40 years of work at James River Corporation, Donald retired in 1989. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo. Donald Motsinger helped to protect the U.S. as a decorated second lieutenant pilot with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a true hero to his country and an even truer everyday hero to everyone who loved him. Donald's family will miss him dearly for the rest of their days. Donald called Kalamazoo his home for all of his 88 years. He came into the world on April 19, 1924, the blesssed son of Charles and Mildred Hudson Motsinger. He has been joyfully reunited in Heaven with them, along with his brother, Harold. Donald married the love of his life, Maxine, on December 5, 1942. She survives, along with their daughter, Sherry Kenneth Hart of Kalamazoo, his two grandchildren, Kami Fleckenstein of Martin and David Garland of Kalamazoo, his four great-grandchildren, Drew and Logan Fleckenstein, Janna Todd Garland and Keith Garland, his nephews, Terry Motsinger Fiancee, Debra Pesamoska and Billy Motsinger, his niece, Sherry Outman and several more nieces and nephews.
