Donald Hollis Matteson, age 94, was born November 15, 1925 and departed on December 19, 2019 to be with his Lord and Savior. He lived a long and blessed life surrounded by a large family and many dear friends. Dad was fun, generous and loving with a great sense of humor.
He was fortunate to have two wonderful wives, Ardith and Jesse, and a dear friend Carol. Dad was in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was very proud of his service to his country. He wore a veteran's hat wherever he went. He was actually in an Armed Guard specialized unit on a merchant marine ship gunnery crew.
We couldn't have had a better father! Love Always, Deb, Holly and Brigitte.
In accordance with Don's wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or services. Memorials in memory of Don may be directed to Portage Schoolcraft Eagle Lodge Scholarship Fund, or a charity of your choice.
