Donald passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008. He was born May 3, 1917, in Kalamazoo, the son of John and Bertha Noble Herder and has been a lifelong area resident. For many years he was employed with Wagner Plumbing where he had formerly been a partner in the business. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and was currently a member of the Westwood United Methodist Church. Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, D. Jane Wagner Herder in October of 1985. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Richard Homan. In November of 1986, he was united in marriage to Cena G. Young Homan who survives. Also surviving are his children, Nancy Kain of Three Rivers, Ronald Janet Herder of Kalamazoo, Gary Mary Herder of Vicksburg; step-children, Larry Connie Homan of Texas, Lydia Robert Adams of Texas, John Julie Homan of Kalamazoo; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; half brothers and sisters, Richard Herder, Arnola Keur, Joan Hess and Phillip Herder. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Westwood United Methodist Church 538 Nichols Rd. where a Memorial Service to celebrate Donald's life will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday with Rev. Dr. Wayne Price officiating. A private family interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Donald's memory may be directed to Westwood United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
