Kalamazoo, Michigan Died Monday afternoon September 8, 2008 at his residence. Don was born October 21, 1930 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Jacob and Minnie Weenick Grofvert. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Air Force. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with VanderMay Construction for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He also attended Texas Corners Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and a sister. In 1952, he was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Terpstra Grofvert who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Dawn Grofvert of Buchanan, MI, Dwight Grofvert of Plainwell, and Daryl Diane Grofvert of Kalamazoo; a sister, Wilma Boone of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program.
