Died peacefully Friday morning January 3, 2020 at his residence. Donald was born October 8, 1935 in Wadsworth, Ohio a son of Adon and Evelyn (Barr) Emig. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Amtower and Twin City Companies for 38 years, retiring in 1997. Donald was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Karolyn McDonald. On May 26, 1956, he was united in marriage to Phyllis J. (Nelson) Emig who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Terry (Dawn) Emig and Cheryl (Mike) Girton all of Kalamazoo, and Mark (Pam) Emig of Coopersburg, PA; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, James Emig of Oklahoma; a sister, Sharon Holysz of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Friday, January 10th at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or to the family.
