Donald W. Douglas, age 94 of Kalamazoo, died at home on May 6, 2022. He was born on August 16, 1927, in Ionia, Michigan, the son of Roy and Emma (Miller) Douglas. Doug served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman attached to the 53rd Seabees. He received his bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and was an occupational therapist with the State of Michigan Department of Mental Health for 30 years. He and his wife, Ann, taught ballroom dancing lessons for over 60 years. On February 10, 1950, he married A. Ann Root, who survives. He is also survived by his children: Sheila (Jack) Bair, Ava (Scott) Berkley, James (Kathy) Douglas, and Gina (Scott) Crossley; his 12 grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his sisters: Virginia (Marvin) Nelson, Glenna (Orrin) Miller, his twin Donna Jane (Clifford) Fordham, and Mary Lou (Burdell) Clark. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 5-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo, with military honors.
