Don Ho Yee

YEE, Don Ho Portage Passed away February 8, 2007 at Borgess Hospital with his family by his side. Don was born January 8, 1929 in Canton, China, the son of Sew Lin and Shui Lin Au Yee. He came to the United States in 1953 and joined in business with his father at the Hop Sing Laundry. Prior to his retirement, Don was in the restaurant business for 30 years. He began the Canton Restaurant in 1973, the Kowloon Gum Ho Restaurant in 1977 and the Kowloon Noodle Company New Moon Trading in 1990. Don enjoyed Chinese painting, cooking and Chinese Poetry Reading. He was a member of the Portage Lions Club. Don is survived by his wife Yuke T. Yee of Portage; a daughter Lillian Lee Lum and a son Jack Nancy Yee, all of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nyan Chiu Hung of Toronto, Canada and Yu Cok of China. Services will be held at 12:30 o?clock on Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment will follow at South Portage Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Sunday evening from 4-6 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Don?s memory may be made to the Portage Lions Club.
