Dolores Jean 'Liz' Cook

February 3, 1930 — December 17, 2012

DOLORES LIZ JEAN COOK
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Dolores Jean Cook was born on February 3, 1930 to Mary and Albert Walker in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she remained throughout her school years. The eldest of three children, she enjoyed a childhood surrounded by her extended family and friends. After graduating from Alderdice High School, she met the "love of her life", William Johnston Cook Bill, and married on July 1, 1948 and became "Liz" to all that would meet her from that day on. Liz's greatest joy was her family and went on to raise four children. Liz and Bill finally left Pittsburgh and settled in Comstock, Michigan in 1966 where she filled her days raising her family, traveling throughout the US in their RV "Dream Catcher", playing bridge, gardening and making her famous creme puffs and chocolate fudge. Liz passed away on December 17, 2012. She is survived by her husband Bill and four children, Sherry Foust Jim, Bill Cook Babs, Lisa Martin Jim and Doug Cook Kirsten, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Liz's love and compassion will be desperately missed by her family and friends but her amazing spirit will live on. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Rose Arbor Hospice Care, Comstock Fire and Rescue and to long-time friends George & Betty McMillen for their unwavering support during this most difficult time. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway, where the memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012. Pastor Scott Burdick will officiate.
