Of Mattawan Dolores went to be with her Lord on Sunday afternoon, February 27, 2011 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born June 4, 1934 in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Francis J. and Gertrude M. Luykx Smith. On May 29, 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald �Joe� E. Boop in Lima, OH. Dolores worked as the payroll department head of Lima Cigar Factory from 1952-1958 and Mattawan Consolidated Schools as a secretary for 28 years, until her retirement. She faithfully attended Berean Baptist Church in Portage since 1980. Dolores was an avid fan of The Ohio State University and enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. She and Joe traveled to every state in the U.S. except Hawaii on their Goldwing. Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Don �Joe� Boop; four daughters, Joanna Warren Nieboer and Diana Boop of Mattawan, Judy Murphy Shearer of Athens and Julia Boop of Bellevue, IA; and grandchildren, Donald Grantham, Rachel and Jacob Heather Nieboer, Nicole and Levi Boop and Karissa Keys, who were her pride and joy. Preceding her in death were her father, Francis Smith; mother and step-father, Gertrude and Coy Davison; and one brother, Richard Smith. Funeral services for Dolores will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 S. 12th Street, with Pastor Bill Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street.
