Of Kalamazoo Diane passed away Sunday morning, March 8, 2009 at her home. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, she was born October 9, 1933 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Basil and Constance Dasher Hayward. Diane was employed part-time by Kalamazoo Public School at Loy Norrix High School for 17 years until her retirement in 1993. She was a longtime member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church and enjoyed square dancing and doing crossword puzzles. On May 23, 1953, she was united in marriage to Vernon M. Vorenkamp in Kalamazoo. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Vernon; their 2 children, Mark Terry Vorenkamp of Fallbrook, CA and Linda Greg Gaines Vorenkamp of Denver, CO; 5 grandchildren, David, Laura, and Lisa Vorenkamp, and Brielle and Lindsay Gaines; 4 sisters, Sally Ron Kalleward of Kalamazoo, Judy Bern Zwart of Kalamazoo, Sue Jim Robinson of Mesa, AZ, and Chris Lourdes Hayward of Florida; 2 step-sisters, Joyce Leonard Penny, and Janet Bill Chambers; 1 step-brother, Virgil Jr. Betty Sanford; 1 step-sister-in-law, Marlene Sanford; 1 sister-in-law, Bernadine Ault; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Diane will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Sunnyside United Methodist Church, 2800 Gull Road, with Rev. Linda J. Burson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street.
