Of Mattawan Died at home March 15, 2013 at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 26, 1939 in Trinity, AL to the late Dewey S. Hensley and Eunice Suggs. He was united in marriage to Carol Mejeur on September 28, 1968 who survives. Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who deeply loved his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, attending many sporting events and recreational activities. After graduating from high school, Ed joined the Navy Reserves, proudly serving his country. He was honorably discharged and began working at Allied Paper Mill. He later retired from General Motors after many years of working hard to care for his family. After retirement, Ed worked for Hardings Market, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved working in the yard, tending to the pool, but was most proud of his garden. Ed is survived by his wife, Carol Hensley; Children, Daniel Mendy Evenhouse of Lawton, Dawn Wood of Paw Paw, John Julie Evenhouse of Schoolcraft, Julie Jim Switzer of Kalamazoo and Brian Wood of Paw Paw; Grandchildren, Holli Ryan, Brianne, Ben, Meagan, Collin, Josh and Lindsey; Great grandchild Natalie; brother, Joe Deb Crawford; sisters, Iva Fred DeYoung, Faye Bob Bush and Olivia Hensley; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many close friends. He is also survived by Gary, Duane, and his children. Ed was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jodi Lynn Hensley. Family will greet friends on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. The funeral service will be held Thursday, 11:00 am at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd, Kalamazoo, with Pastor Fred DeYoung officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church with burial taking place after at Almena Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of SW Michigan, West Michigan Cancer Center, or Crosspointe Fellowship Church, 8605 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, Florida 34205.
