VANDER MEER, Delores Elaine "Dee"
Kalamazoo, MI With her family gathered in loving support by her side, Delores Elaine "Dee" VanderMeer, age 85, was called home by her Lord on Sunday morning, September 30, 2012. Dee was born on Friday, October 7, 1926 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Jacob and Ada DeWolf Klok and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church, where she served in the Dorcas Society for many years. Dee was a member of the Gull Lake Country Club and an avid golfer. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and especially loved to hold little babies in her arms. After raising her children, Dee was a Bronson volunteer, delivering flowers and cards. She also volunteered at Second Impressions and loved to travel. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at various events and gatherings. On April 2, 1948, she was united in marriage with Theodore J. "Ted" VanderMeer, who preceded her in death on November 24, 2009. Dee was also preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Leonard Klok and a sister-in-law, Janet Klok. Surviving are: three children, Ronald J. Lorraine VanderMeer, Marjorie G. Thomas Lemmer-Westdorp, Kurtis T. Wendy VanderMeer; eleven grandchildren, Dania, Josh, Sarah, Austin, Logan, Shawn, Rachel, Michelle, Dawnna, P.J., and Marya; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ken Kathy Klok, John Nancy Klok; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd, with Rev. Greg Timmer and Rev. Dr. Harry G. Arnold, officiating. Private interment services will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday today from 6 to 8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street and from 10 to 11am Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association or Grace Christian Reformed Church.
