VANDENBERG, Delores V. "Tody"
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Tody passed away Thursday morning, April 1, 2010 at her home with her family by her side. She was born April 1, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Oscar and Pauline Cook Kite. In 1939, she was united in marriage to Clarence E. Vandenberg, and began a lifetime of love, passion, adventure, and devotion. Together they raised three children, spent memorable times with wonderful friends and family, and most of all enjoyed each others company. Surviving are two children, Janice Feldmann and Mark Vandenberg; two grandsons, Mike Ashley and Tony Vandenberg; three beautiful great-grandchildren, Kayla, Ella, and Kalee; one sister, Audrey Owen Townsend; one brother, Terry Carole Kite; sister-in-law, Nancy Vandenberg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a multitude of the best friends anyone could ever have. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence; one son, Bruce Vandenberg; her parents; and one sister, Myrna Swift. A service celebrating the life of Tody will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Interment will be in Genesee Prairie Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 PM on Monday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Gift of Life or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
